Street Fighter IV Updates and Complete Roster Including Secret Characters!
Street Fighter brings back a lot of memories. In high school our “barkada” composing of Glen, Mark, Jepoy, and Jay were all into the game.
Jay was considered the best Ryu fighter, he had already perfected the 3 hit “hadouken” combo.
Glen was considered untouchable as Guile.
Jepoy was the quickest with Chun-li maximizing her cheap throws and triangle jumps called “takas” system.
And I my friends was at the bottom of the ladder : ) Ken would have kicked my ass if he knew what I was doing with his character. Although in fairness to me I can kick their butts in any Street Fighter arcade.
Things improved in the “Alpha” series due to the inclusion of super moves, Glen lost Guile, Jay went abroad and Jepoy had to contend with a Chun-li remake ahahaha.
Life was good those days but change was inevitable.
A new Street Fighter is coming to town. Everybody’s excited and I for one have a legacy of defeats to erase : )
On July 18, 2008 Street Fighter IV was released in the Japanese arcades marking a new era in fighting games.
What’s next? The console release of course!
Feb. 12, 2009 in Japan
Feb. 17, 2009 in North America
Feb 18, 2009 in Quiapo (you betcha)
Feb. 20, 2009 in Europe
News include a new “focus attack” system which will replace the “parry” system of Street Fighter III.
The complete arcade roster includes Ryu, Ken, Chun-li (crap), E.Honda (that’s Edward Honda), Blanka, Zangief, Guile (double crap), Dhalsim (Yoga!), Balrog (known as M.Bison in Japan), Vega (known as Balrog in Japan), Sagat (known as Sagat in Japan hehe just checking if your mind’s still working) and M.Bison (known as Vega in Japan)
The game will also feature new characters namely:
Abel: A French mixed martial artist. He is also an amnesiac who only wants to fight and defeat surviving members of Shadoloo.
Crimson Viper: The only character with a high jump. She is an American spy (cough, cough Cammy ripoff) wearing sunglasses, leather gloves, and a form fitting uniform.
Rufus: Rufus was once a known street fighter when he vanished. He returned telling everybody that he has changed his body to become a better fighter but people only saw an obese version of their former idol. Rufus is a fighter bearing Kung-Fu moves and seeks Ken to prove himself as the best American fighter.
El Fuerte: (Spanish for “The Fruit” just kidding his name means “The strong one”) He is a Mexican luchador and aspiring gourmet chef.
The new final boss is named Seth:
Seth: He is known as “The Puppet Master” He is a the C.E.O. of S.I.N., the weapons division of Shadoloo. His body has been modified using advance technology. Just like any new boss in a fighting game he can use the moves of all the other characters. (Kudos to Shang Tsung of Mortal Kombat for being the first)
The hidden characters are lame just AKUMA! And his brother GOUKEN!
Akuma is one bad character. He is the originator of the move “Raging Demon” This move has been done to me by Jepoy so many times I’ve lost count.
His supposedly “dead” brother Gouken thanks to Akuma himself also makes an appearance.
A few years back Gouken was suppose to be a secret character in Street Fighter III but it turned out to be a hoax code by a famous gaming magazine who just happens to freak people out during April fools : )
The console version of Street Fighter IV will feature additional characters not included in the arcade version of the game. So far I heard that Cammy (the girl that made the Frankensteiner a thing of beauty), Fei-Long (Bruce Lee rip off), Dan (not this guy ahahaha), Rose, Sakura, and Gen are included in the cast.
I’m sure after reading this article my friends will enjoy the thoughts of kicking my butt again in Street Fighter IV so I made arrangements!
(The author is currently playing Street Fighter II on his SNES and cannot be disturbed)
