Musings with Mall Escalators
What is an escalator? It’s a transport device consisting of linked steps that move either up or down.
They are put where elevators would be impractical.
Simply put they are electronic stairs.
They are beneficial because they can move a large number of people and there is no waiting interval unlike the elevator.
I’m sure you’re familiar with escalators because you use them everytime you go to a mall.
So what happens when escalators become a problem?
Have you ever seen an escalator that gets broken at least twice a day?
I experienced this.
I also have a friend who works at a mall and he assures me that this happens a lot.
Have you experienced escalators wherein all those moving up are working and all those moving down are all broken? Actually not broken just not moving..they have no notice or warning signs.
I have also experienced this.
Lastly, have you experienced malls with escalators going up and only stair’s going down?
Yup I see a lot of this in smaller malls.
So here’s a question. Is it okay for malls to do this? I understand if the escalator breaks a lot but what of the other incidents wherein malls blatantly provide poor service in exchange for assurances of a bigger sale because people get to roam the mall’s upper levels more but will have a problem going out?
I was a victim of this morning. I used the stairs going down.
It’s exercise yes but are they allowed to do that?
